The Shell #2
Modernity trades craftmanship and its
timescale for functionality and efficiency. The surfaces of everyday object, like
ceramic wear and pottery, once serve as narrative spaces for artistic
expression, until tradition gave way to the standardization of industrial mass
production. In this project, rice cookers, hollowed out
and sealed permanently, are transformed into functionless shells. Through painted
decorations and storytelling collages, the industrial and modern timescales
embedded in these objects are reset to connect with dimensions of mythology and literature.
